New Location

After a long summer of renovations, it is time to move to the new store!  Captain’s Cabinetry will close from September 22, 2017 to October 1, 2017.  Our first day of business in our new location, 136 South Cochran Ave., will be October 2, 2017.

We can’t wait to show you the new building!  Paul and crew have spent days, nights, and weekends restoring this historic downtown Charlotte building and giving it a new life.  Just some of the many improvements are new electrical, heating and cooling, drywall, and painting the antique tin ceiling. New floors are going in this week.  It is unrecognizable to what was in there before!

Thank you for your patience during this time.  Please email us with any questions or concerns you have during this transition.  #CharlotteRising

New Location for Captain’s Cabinetry

We are excited to announce a big change for our show room!  We will have a NEW LOCATION the summer of 2017!

We will still be located in beautiful and historic downtown Charlotte, just a couple doors south on Cochran next to Charlotte’s favorite coffee shop, Evelyn Bay.  The owners of The Reading Place have decided to retire, and we will be moving into their much loved store.  Paul believes the new store will reflect his standards of quality and give you a sense of the care and design you will experience in your own home.

Please like us on Facebook or follow us here to stay updated on this exciting change! #CharlotteRising

Word can travel fast, and far, in the consumer world if you consistently provide quality products and services. In the past two years Paul Wilson and Judy Wonch at Captain’s Cabinetry in downtown Charlotte have begun to realize just how far a “good word” can travel.

Wilson spent a few days recently installing a Cambria Countertop in Grand Marais, which is in the Upper Peninsula. He was selected for the job after providing a few custom builds for a Dimondale couple. They appreciated his work so much they requested he provide a similar service for their summer home in the U.P.

Trips out of the area, though not regularly as far as Grand Marais, have become routine for Captain’s Cabinetry since being named a Cambria Premier Dealer. Less than 1 percent of all Cambria dealers in the U.S. and Canada reach the Premier Dealer level, which is awarded to dealers that provide the highest quality Cambria experience and excellence in their commitment to customer service.

“We bring a lot of people into this community,” Wilson said of out-of-town customers that frequent the downtown Charlotte showroom. “When we perform a job, our customers easily average seven trips into the community. That often means trips to our local restaurants.”

Cambria quartz countertops are only part of the draw for Captain’s Cabinetry, though all 133 styles of Cambria countertops are on display in the showroom, including a new large-slab display.

“We’re really trying to become a gallery here in Charlotte, which we hope will draw more people into the community,” Wilson said.

Captain’s Cabinetry also offers cabinets, countertops, lighting, sinks, faucets, toilets, tubs and showers. Items range in price from affordable to custom work. Countertops are available in granite, quartz, solid surface or laminate.

Wonch said the showroom provides a relaxed atmosphere for customers to browse selections and envision what their new kitchen or bath could look like.

“We provide a very relaxed atmosphere,” Wonch said. “We offer products in a variety of prices and make sure our customers know what their options are. It makes it much more comfortable for them when they know how we can meet their needs.”

Captain’s Cabinetry’s installation and complete remodeling services are a big part of the business’s growth over the past 10 years.

“One of our biggest selling points when doing a job is producing a complete agenda for our customers,” Wilson said. “They hang it on their refrigerator and they know who is going to be there and when and exactly what is going to be done that day. We work with really good people that commit to these dates before we move forward.”

Captain’s Cabinetry, located at 116 S. Cochran in downtown Charlotte,  is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Evening and weekend hours are available by appointment. Call (517) 543-0363 for more information.
